Dr. Akshat Malik is a leading Head & Neck and Thyroid Cancer Surgeon, known for his expertise in treating complex thyroid tumours, neck masses, and cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract. He holds an MCh in Head & Neck Surgery, the highest level of surgical training in this field.
After completing his MS in Surgery from Delhi University, he pursued dedicated training in cancer surgery at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai—India’s premier cancer institute—where he earned his MCh in Head & Neck Surgery.
Dr. Malik was selected for the prestigious and highly competitive Royal College of Surgeons Senior Clinical Fellowship in Advanced Head & Neck Surgery at Imperial College NHS Trust, London, where he got an opportunity to refine his skills further. This international experience adds to his expertise in managing complex and advanced thyroid and head–neck cancers.
Presently he is working as Senior Consultant Head and Neck - Surgical Oncology in Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Mathura Road, New Delhi & Apollo Athenaa Women's Hospital, Defence Colony, New Delhi; where he covers the entire spectrum of head and neck cancer resections, including but not limited to robotic surgeries, laser resection, skull base resections, and challenging recurrent and salvage surgeries.
For six years, he learnt and refined the art and craft of managing all spectrums of head and neck cancers in a multi-disciplinary and evidenced based manner.
He has been part of various clinical trials and has published extensively in several international journals. He has been an invited reviewer for many prestigious international and national journals.
He has also contributed chapters to various authoritative books in the specialty. He has been actively involved in academics and in training surgeons in head and neck cancer surgery both in India as well as in London.
He has been a proponent for increasing cancer awareness amongst general public and has helped train specialists, medical officers as well as auxiliary healthcare workers in cancer screening.
He has written invited articles related to head and neck cancers in several languages in leading newspapers in the country.He follows an ethical approach towards managing his patients and is driven by patient satisfaction and good functional results.
